The Delkatla Wildlife Sanctuary borders the town of Massett (where I'm staying) and I noticed a group of sandhill cranes touching down for a few moments on their migration route. I crawled towards them for almost 30 minutes without them noticing me, snapping pictures of them grazing in the high grass. Then one saw me approach and was startled -- which led to all of them fleeing. I was able to catch this shot as they were leaving.
